How To Create A Hamptons Style Bathroom

August 11, 2015 by Belinda

I was excited to be recently invited to write a guest blogpost for Perini Tiles to provide my tips for How To Create A Hamptons Style Bathroom. Hamptons bathrooms are classic, elegant and timeless. I love that they can also be adaptable. With the addition of coloured towels, and bathroom accessories you can give them a fresh, new look.

If you are planning to design your Hamptons style bathroom, here are some ideas.

Subway Tiles

These are generally white or marble and as the name suggests, laid in a subway format.

Natural stone is commonly used for tiling (floor and/or wall), countertops or both. Marble tiles can be applied in various shapes such as hexagonal, basketweave and herringbone. In this ensuite I used a Carrara marble laid in a herringbone pattern as the floor tile.

Luxe Design Build

A Hamptons-style vanity is usually custom-built with a shaker style profile on the doors and drawers. Cabinet knobs or pulls are more often chrome or nickel-plated.

Sconce Lighting

Sconce lights are usually mounted on either side of the mirror or on the mirror itself. As well as providing additional lighting at the face level, they offer a softer ambience than downlights alone.

Wall Panelling

Walls, or sections of, can be panelled or sometimes wallpapered.

Neutral Colours

Hamptons-style bathrooms are a neutral colour such as white, grey or black and white.

Add colour through accessories, towels or even the mirror. I used these classic bone inlay blue and white mirrors in this bathroom. This colour pairing is always a classic.

Tapware is generally chrome or nickel-plated and traditional in style.

    1. Hi Grace,

I wish I could answer your question. I am thinking silicon but I would definitely seek advice from a builder or plumber. Hope this helps?

  6. I’m creating this type of bathroom now… tore it out from top to bottom… using marble flooring with brushed nickel fixtures… white soaking tub… dove grey walls and shutters in white on the two windows… shower is enlarged with Carrara marble tiling with the marble basket weave mid shower stall… which will be seamless.. vanity is urban grey with square sinks in porcelain with an amazing grey white marble with subtle streaks of soft green and light blue running thru it!! I added heated floors too!!! Can’t wait till it’s done!!! C. Thee

I’m not sure which basins you are asking about but unfortunately as I didn’t design these bathrooms myself, I probably can’t help you. Sorry!
