Friday’s Favourites & Some Scheming

This week has been a fun one, making lots of decisions for the new house (or at least trying to!). Mr Gallerie B came home from New York with five of these towel rings below, from Restoration Hardware. Their quality is fantastic and they co-ordinate perfectly with my glass drawer pulls. This is the preliminary scheme for our ensuite. The floor tiles on the left are a marble replica which will be laid in a herringbone pattern. The fabric will cover my Restoration Hardware sconce lights which were lugged home from our recent Hawaii trip. We have selected Caesarstone London Grey for the countertops. I would love to have Carrara marble in the bathrooms too but the budget says no!

Speaking of the budget, most of our cabinetry will be finished in a Polytec vinyl wrap. Again, it is less expensive than 2-pac and given that I apparently have an ‘unusually large’ amount of built-in joinery (according to the builder) it is a good option. I can still have my shaker profile on all the doors and drawers and the colour options are not too bad. I couldn’t give up my 2-pac in the kitchen and living area though, where I would prefer to be a bit more adventurous with cabinet colours. Here is the preliminary scheme for our study. Grasscloth wallpaper, nickel cupboard pulls from Restoration Hardware and a fabric option for the roman blind. At this stage it is Dulux Natural White for the trims.

And now for this week’s Friday’s Favourites inspiration. I cannot imagine having a bathroom so large. But any excuse for a window seat! Love the abundant natural light too.

Although pared back with its white walls and bedding, the artwork and cushions really have impact in this light-filled bedroom.

From the same home, I love the idea of a fabric roman blind in a kitchen. The white palette can allow the owner to add their personality through colourful homewares, or fresh greenery.

How amazing is this New York Brownstone kitchen? It’s a great mix of industrial with a Hamptons charm. I don’t know if you have seen the movie The Intern yet, but this kitchen is part of the set. It is no surprise that Nancy Meyers (director of It’s Complicated and Something’s Gotta Give) has had a big hand in creating it. She’s also the movies’ Director.
