New York in Colour
by
I returned home yesterday from a whirlwind 4 1/2 days in New York. It certainly is the city that never sleeps and with limited time, I packed in as much as I could. This trips’ focus was getting some design inspiration for the house mixed with a couple of meetings for future Gallerie B projects (stay tuned!). Although the weather was generally sunny, it was cold. The fashion was totally geared towards winter with stores stocking a lot of black. This was a bit disappointing for colour-loving me but no doubt a good thing for my credit card! Therefore, I found myself enjoying colour in New York in different places.
The beautiful turquoise ceiling of Grand Central Station.
Pastel cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery in West Village where I had my Carrie moment.
Pretty flower pots at a Brownstone entrance in West Village.
Autumn flower box display outside a store in Soho.
The distinctive Laduree mint green of their Soho store.
The were some great homewares stores where I could get my fix. C Wonder is renowned for its bursts of colour and gorgeous displays.
And of course I made a bee-line for the Jonathan Adler flagship Soho store.
I might just have splurged on one of the Richard Nixon Alpaca throws, Merry Christmas to me!
I’ve always been a fan of Anthropologie merchandising and their ceramics.
The Madeline Weinrib collection at ABC Carpet and Home was incredible.
The unmistakable orange doors of the Tory Burch Soho store.
The Fifth Ave Valentino store was a stand out.
The rainbow colours of Ralph Lauren Polos were displayed perfectly.
I walked the High Line which has a great vantage point of the Meatpacking District. The autumn colours were beautiful.
“I recall, Central Park in fall…..”
Stay tuned for a future blogpost about my New York decor and design discoveries.
