Slipcover Chairs

Slipcover Chairs have been on my design ‘radar’ for some time now.  They give a relaxed vibe and therefore are often seen in coastal homes. I recovered some old armchairs in a white slipcover for the living room at the beach house.  Believe it or not, they are practical!  The kids climb all over them with sandy feet but they can be easily removed and washed.

Slipcover Chairs are most often seen in a white cotton or linen, but this blue and white fabric is a perfect choice for these barstools.

Because they are practical and washable, slipcovers are a great option for dining chairs.

I’m fairly certain this is a hotel and not a residential living room!

  1. Bel,
What fabric did you use for your slipcovered chairs at the beach? I’ve been thinking of recovering two chairs for the breakfast table….but should I dare with 3 kids?

    • Hi Lynn! I used a cotton fabric designed for home decor use (to avoid issues with shrinking in the wash). I would also consider getting a fabric protectant applied to it. I think it is a great idea for dining chairs, just maybe choose a darker more practical colour with the kids. x
